Candidates should prequalify

I have at least 2 years of abstinence-based recovery from lived experience with substance use and/or a mental health disorders.
As part of the application process, submit for background check – I do not have active warrants and I have not been convicted of sex crimes, manslaughter or murder.

To apply, you must:

  • Submit a complete, signed application.
  • Submit a copy of a GED, high school diploma, or higher-level education diploma or transcript.
  • Attest to having a minimum of two years of abstinence-based recovery from substance use and/or a mental health disorder.
  • Attest that you have read, understand, and will adhere to the Arkansas Peer Recovery Code of Ethics.
  • Submit a copy of a background check completed in the last 60 days.
  • Email the complete, signed application and all supporting documentation.

Applications are reviewed by the DHS Recovery Unit every month. 

If your application is accepted, a member of the Recovery Unit will notify you with a phone call and a follow-up email explaining the next steps. If your application is denied, a member of the Recovery Unit will send an email explaining the reasons for denial along with possible next steps for you to apply again.
